Providing Support for Quarantined Students at the Faculty
Following a request from the Faculty of Engineering, AAREIE provided immediate support for the quarantined students of the 21st batch in April 2021. Electric Kettles and relief medicine packs were provided to the quarantined students at the faculty using the contributions from the Executive Committee of AAREIE.
Collaboration in Arranging Undergraduate Training Opportunities
The AAREIE collaborated with the DEIE and EIES to arrange industrial training opportunities to the EIE students from the 18th batch. Following a request from the DEIE and considering the difficulties in securing suitable training places due to covid restrictions, the AAREIE actively participated and was able to provide several training opportunities to the students.
AAREIE Workshop Series
AAREIE continues to contribute to the development of the undergraduates of DEIE through workshops to improve knowledge, skills, and practical aspects to shape their carriers. This year the workshop series is planned to cover areas in Telecommunications, Electrical and Power, Software, Electronics, and Interpersonal development. AAREIE has invited resource persons from both DEIE ALUMNI and external parties who are vastly experienced with expertise in their relevant fields to deliver these workshops.
The first workshop of the series was conducted on 04th September 2021 under the Telecommunication field with the topic of Evolution of Wireless Networks (4G LTE and 5G). Eng. Malaka Dahanayaka currently working as a Customer Technical Manager/ Senior Engineer at Ericsson Telecommunication Lanka (Pvt) Ltd successfully delivered this 4-hour workshop via zoom with the participation of interested students from all the batches of the
faculty. The next workshop of the series is scheduled on 18th September on the topic of Aviation related Electronic Engineering conducted by Eng. Malith Manuhara. AAREIE wishes to invite the ALUMNI of DEIE to join these workshops and participate in the discussions for collective knowledge improvement.
In addition, the regular workshop series, the AAREIE also organizes special workshops based on student requirements and requests. Prior to the commencement of the ongoing industrial training of the 18th batch, the AAREIE organized an awareness session about industrial training. This session was held 12th June 2021 and conducted by Eng. Shrivi Sandamini currently working as an Engineer -Talent Development, Sri Lanka Telecom PLC

DEIE alumni Jagath Sri Lal Senanayaka‘s paper on” Multiple Classifiers and Data Fusion for Robust Diagnosis of Gearbox Mixed Faults” has won 2020 Outstanding paper award for IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics.
